Increase self esteem by mastering public speaking

As a person with a physical disability (profound hearing loss) I know what a crippled self esteem feels like. Skydiving and mastering public speaking are the two things that catapulted my self confidence the quickest and most profoundly.

The late President Gerald Ford once said,

"If I went back to college again, I'd concentrate on two areas - learning to write and to speak before an audience. Nothing is more important than the ability to communicate effectively."

Says Zig Ziglar, the granddaddy of motivational presentations:

"One of the surest ways to build your self esteem is by learning public speaking."

Every time you talk, whether chatting on the phone, confiding to a loved one, telling a joke to a choice few at a party, running a meeting, or giving a technical presentation to a group of a thousand, you are practicing this critical skill; and you are either connecting with your audience... or not.

Read My Lips!

Incorporating just one or two of these simple tips can make a profound difference in your ability to communicate and connect. However, do keep it simple, silly...don't practice more than one or two tips at a time. Once comfortable with the two you've adopted, add a couple more. You, and your friends and associates, will wonder what happened to you. And YOU are going to feel empowered.

During my three decades of participation in Toastmasters, the worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to making effective communication a worldwide reality, I have seen the confidence of countless individuals soar. I've seen countless others become teachers and leaders in their chosen vocation. I know without a shadow of a doubt, this is a skill that will change your life.
